Life has many options that we should determine. However, every option has its risks to do. But, its every option always had a way out when we hang it to the Christ. One figure that we need to follow is Abraham.
The choice of life has been daily matters that Abraham had to face. He always experienced mistakes and weakness. Hence, Abraham learnt to use wisdom in choosing option that is suitable with God’s desire. One of its options that he had ever taken was when he had to bow himself down before God by succumbing.
“So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other” (Genesis 13:11). The story begins from the herdsmen of Abram (not yet renamed Abraham) and Lot were fighting over the land to graze their cattle (Genesis 13:1-18).
To avoid a fight, Abram asked Lot to choose the piece of land he deemed good. Lot chose the Jordan valley that looks very good. Abram relented and settled in other land named Canaan. In the end God destroyed the place that has been chosen by Lot, which so called Sodom and Gomorrah.
In plain, Abram might just get the rest of the land and did not look as good as Jordan valley whose a lot of the water. But Abram was willing to give in and avoid quarrels there. And we see that God gave the best to Abram.
There are certain moments where God asks us to give in and surrender everything to Him. When we choose to give in, then we will learn and see how God works in our lives extraordinary. We will look at the defense of God for our lives.
