Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm74[/bible]; [bible]roman2[/bible]; [bible]numbe31-32[/bible]

Kulvinder Kaur is a 23-year-old woman who had experienced fear and abuse and hatred; all of them were caused by her father. It began since she lost her mother who died 3 years ago. Since her mother had gone, her father should have been a good parent for her, but he didn’t. He treated Kaur badly.

Many times that man beat Kaur, even sexually abused her. On April 30th, 2014, Kaur had a chance to revenge for what she’s got all this time. She tried to kill her 56-year-old father in their own home. Kaur asked her two friends to enter his bedroom, attacked him while he was sleeping, and then killed him. Later Kaur got into that room to find out that her father was dead.

In addition to her friends’ attack, Kaur beat her father continuously using some glasses. Later, they brought the dead body of Kaur’s father and put it in the middle of a forest. Anger and hatred have blinded Kaur’s conscience.

Holding a grudge is like making preparation for destroying the future because it creates root of bitterness inside. Anyone who holds a grudge surely will never experience peace and harmony because she is filled with hatred and anger. For now we have been set free by Christ, we are no longer bound by hatred. We should control our anger so no root of bitterness can grow!

Ask for God’s help to break the hatred and heal the bitterness in you. It will be difficult for you to set yourselves free on your own. Ask Him to give you peace, as well. And then, try to share your feelings with some people you can trust and can develop you into a better person. The burden will be lighter.

Yes, it is not easy to forgive those who hurt us, but it will be more difficult to live in hatred and anger. Therefore, try to soften your heart!
