Luke 10:40
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm4[/bible];[bible]Revel10[/bible];0Ezra9-1
A collected data from a survey of more than 20,000 Christians in 139 countries showed some barriers to grow. The survey revealed that more than 40 percent of Christians in various parts of the world "often" or "always" rush to move from one job to another.
In addition about 60 percent of the Christian states busyness is "often" or "always" a barrier for them to build an intimate relationship with God.
Those things above explain the fact that busyness can distract us from God, so that we do not build a close relationship with Him. This is what Marta experienced. When Jesus visited the house of Mary and Martha, they welcomed Him gladly. But those women had different responses. Marta diverted by her work to make everyone comfortable, the food was served, drinks prepared, but she lost a wonderful time to chat with Jesus Christ.
It happened differently to Mary; she sat at the feet of Jesus and listened carefully to every word that Jesus said. She laughed together at jokes told by the disciples. It could be said that Mary really enjoyed the moments with Jesus and His disciples at that time.
Do we realize that busyness can steal our important times with God? We think that doing a lot of things as quickly as possible and achieve many things as short as possible for the best. Unfortunately, rush and busy is not the same as productivity. Take time to keep silence at the feet of the Lord, find the right priorities in life.
If we are too busy to spend time with the Lord, we are in danger because we have lost a major priority.
