Matthew 14:28
"And Peter, answering, said to him, Lord, if it is you, give me the order to come to you on the water."
Bible Reading for a year: Psalms 19; Matthew 19; Genesis 37-38
Not many people want to try something new and risky. Of course it takes courage in itself. However, it happens to Peter, one of Jesus disciples, who is a very spontaneous like trying something new and rarely seem to think about the risks. One of examples is when he asked to walk on water as well as to prove that person who was near before him was really his master, Jesus.
You know, Jesus did not mind to what Peter did. He allowed Peter to come over him and walk on water.
"Come," thus what His command.
If only Peter had not become fearful and hesitant, his journey to see Jesus walking on the water would be smooth. But that's Peter, besides courage, he was also easy to hesitate; he then sank and cried asking for God's help. Jesus immediately helped and rebuked Peter for his distrust.
One positive thing that we can look up the story of Peter in the above is that we must have the courage to try new things, things that are sometimes quite challenging our faith. God does not forbid us, in fact He is ready to help us out of our comfort zone and learn to trust Him to accomplish new things. Our experiences walking with the Lord are going to be a living testimony that Jesus Christ is God who able to do extraordinary things through ordinary people like us.
Imagine if Peter was like the other disciples, he would lose the chance to be the second person walking on the water without any tools. Likewise, if we do not have the courage to get out of your comfort zone and believe in Jesus, we will lose the opportunity to experience many incredible miracles.
In this adventure, we walk in a believing faith, do not be afraid of drowning, believe God is always with us and ready to help us at any time.
