Acts 12:18

Then, as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.

King Herod was famous for his cruelty. Through his authority, he treated his people heartlessly; he persecuted and killed the believers.

Peter was put into jail. He must have been treated the way James has been treated. When he was in jail, Peter was closely guarded by the army. His hands and legs were chained. Peter knew that he would die soon. He surrendered his life unto God’s will. In his weakness and despair, Peter fell asleep next to the army surround him.

But the angel of God came to Peter, woke him up and performed miracle. Peter got up and his chains were broken. Do you know that the power was revealed because the church prayed for Peter? “…constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.”(Acts 12:5b). It’s not a typical prayer, but prayer that was offered constantly. Due to the prayer, the heaven was shaken and the power of God revealed so that He brought His angel down to break Peter’s chains and released him from death.

We might have been chained by the problems right now, and it seems like we have lost hope and no door opens. Don’t lose hope; come to God and cry out to Him with all your heart!
