Superiority complex is a mental disorder, which one is motivated by the desire to achieve perfection in every aspect of life. According to Adler, a psychologist, since man is born into the world, he is weak and helpless. The weak condition includes physical weakness or disability, being spoiled since he was little until he was an adult, and being neglected by the family for they never care for him, and he lacks affection and praise from parents.

These things can result in the child experiencing superiority complex, where he was always trying to be perfect in every way in the public. Someone who had superiority complex actually hides an inferior feeling or inferiority in him. For example, the person is always being cocky or arrogant and trying to dominate others or trying to become more dominant in all respects, including trying to dominate the conversation during a discussion.

However, the real him was actually tortured by his own weakness or deficiency, either physical or mental weakness due to being ignored by people surround him. Thus, in certain ways he would try to attract others’ attention so that he gets the attention, praise or flattery from them.

People who have superiority complex have desire to be recognized by their surroundings. For example, someone who acts rich, smart, beautiful, and so on, when in fact he doesn’t. It proves that he is not honest with himself, as well as to others. In other words, he is wearing a "mask". People are doing so because they do not want to be despised by many people, when in fact nobody would despise them.

God does not want us to be inferior. He never asks us to be who we aren’t. He knows what we need, and gives us what we need, not what we want. We could have worried about our weaknesses and flaws as something bad, but not so with God. In fact, other people may not necessarily see it as a bad thing. Therefore, please accept who we are. Never compare yourself with anyone else as if they’re better than you! Maximize what you have, and accept whatever your situation is, which is already irreversible.
