Ezekiel 48:35
"All the way
around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that
day shall be : THE LORD IS THERE."

What distinguishes
Israel from other nations in the past was the presence of God among them. God’s
chosen people terrified the neighboring countries, because the hands of the
living God protect them. Even the city built by God's instruction was a
reminder that God is in the midst of them, because its name was "The Lord
Is There."
Jerusalem, the city
where the temple is located, is a city where God should dwell, but due to
repeated rebellion to God, the city is now simply titled "holy city"
because God has left the Israelites and make them scattered among the nations. Yet
God does not fully release His chosen people because of love and mercy. God
promised that the time would come; the time when He restores the nation of
Israel, and He will return to Jerusalem. The city will be titled
"Jehovah-shammah" which means The Lord is there.
That promise was
finally fulfilled through the birth of baby Jesus Christ. The Lord, the Word
became flesh and dwelt among us ([bible]0john1:14[/bible]). Through His
presence, God’s power is manifested in our life.
If in ancient Israel
the Lord was in the temple and the city of Jerusalem, today God is there in our lives. Jehovah-shammah is among us. So in any circumstance or situation, realize that the Lord is there. If
God is present, then His power is manifested. Ask the Lord to intervene in
everything you do, and see the difference.
God's presence makes a difference, either on Israel or in our lives. He is present, His power is real, trust Him.
