John
20:19
Then, the same day
at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the
disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the
midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."

The night after
Passover, some women who followed Jesus gave testimony that Jesus was risen and
they had met Him. But the disciples didn’t believe them. They had just lost
Jesus, their teacher and role model, in front of them. Fear and worry haunted
them due to threats and uncertainty they must face.
But suddenly Jesus
appeared among them and said, “Peace be with you.” That’s exactly what they
needed: the presence of Jesus and peace. His presence proves that God they
believe in has risen and conquered death. Peace that He brings vanishes fear
and worry. They found new strength, confidence, and courage to face the future.
How often do we
experience fear and worry like they did? We cannot see the future, cannot find
hope, and have no confidence due to hardship and problem of this world.
If it’s you, you’d
better focus on Jesus. We don’t need to be like Thomas, insisted to see the
mark of the nails before believing His victory over death. Jesus has conquered
death; He has risen and now sits on the right hand of Almighty God. Therefore, we
don’t need to be afraid or worry about anything. He has given us peace which
surpasses all understanding, to keep our hearts and minds focusing on Him ([bible]phili4:7[/bible]).
This
world is full of uncertainty. But the fact says: Jesus is risen and conquered
the death. Therefore, we who trust in Him don’t need to be afraid of anything.
