1 Timothy 2:1-2

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

It is everybody’s desire to have quiet and serene life, yet only a few people who do efforts for this whereas the efforts to create the quiet and serene life are not as difficult as we imagine. We do not need to take part in governance nor security officer. We can do one thing everybody else can: make intercessions and giving of thanks.

Recently after the Presidential Election, Indonesians are confused of various quick count result. Many questions and worry arise concerning this nation’s future leadership. This is the right time for us to do what the Apostle Paul has advised Timothy. Let us spend time to pray for all men (the Indonesians), for kings and all who are in authority (presidential and vice-presidential candidates, government, officer, election commission, and election watchdog).

Proverbs 21:1 states, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” This scripture proves that we do not need to doubt the sovereignty and authority of the Lord; He is able to turn someone’s heart, even the leaders’ one.

Therefore, our effort to create the prosperity in this nation is not over yet when we vote at polling station. We have to make intercessions until the prosperity is realized. So this is the time to stand representing this nation before the Lord so that the Kingdom of God is manifested in this nation—on earth as it is in heaven.

Everyone can make impact and change this nation by doing simple things like making intercession.
