Take note of God’s rebuke to the church of the Laodiceans, "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth,” (Revelation 3:16). Aren’t Christians nowadays lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot? They worship God, and at the same time they compromise with sin. It is difficult for them to say ‘no’ to the world.

The cowardice and unsteadiness to say ‘no’ to sins is one of the reasons why we are not developed in God. Our Christianity turns mediocre and has no impact on people’s lives. Moreover, in Eastern culture we are accustomed to be so hesitant and we find it difficult to reject one’s request, even though we know that is wrong and deviated from the truth. The above scripture is so appropriate: “…he does not abhor evil.”

As the children of God—children of light—we have to decisive when dealing with choices that may bring us to sin; we should have courage to say ‘no’ to every adversity in spite of the risk we need to take. For instance, Joseph, due to fear of the Lord, he severely rejected the temptation from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:7-10).

And because of his courage to reject the temptation, Joseph had to take the risks—he was betrayed and sent into prison. There is a price to pay for living in the truth! Can we imitate Joseph? Or on the contrary, are we so weak and powerless and the say ‘yes’ even though we know the sin? Which one would you choose: fear or man or the Lord?
