Genesis 39:9

How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"

Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm5[/bible]; [bible]matth2[/bible]; [bible]iikin1-2[/bible]

One of the biblical figures that has successfully saved himself from temptation is Joseph. It is written that the wife of his master Potiphar tried to tease him so that he would like to lie with her while Potiphar left. (Genesis 39:7-10)

But in that circumstance, Joseph tried to push her away and run away from her, even though he might be tempted and seduced because Potiphar certainly would not know about it. However, Joseph’s view of this occurrence is based on spiritual stuff—relationship between man before God.

Therefore Joseph was decisive; he realized the boundaries his master entrusted him with. Besides, his obedience to the Lord led him to know the boundaries God determined for him. Thus, he was not caught in a pitfall. He was not only good-looking, but also faithful.

We have learned that the devil always seek to destroy our faith by bring temporary pleasure, beauty, abundance, and power before us. But as we cannot control over our desires and restrain ourselves, we will get into his pitfall and sin.

The devil takes advantage of our weaknesses; but God strengthens us through the victory of Christ.
