In the next April, Indonesians will vote for the representatives to sit in Parliament, both in the first and second level. In July 2014, all of the people have to vote for president, the one who reign in the highest level of Indonesia’s government.

A long time ago, when Moses had to serve Israelites, his father-in-law gave him advice that still survives until the present day and is used in the whole world. He spoke about selecting some chosen people to rule the group of 1000, 100, 50, and 10 people. However, there is a requirement for the leaders.

“You shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness.” That is the requirement for the good leaders.

As Indonesian citizens who will vote for our future leaders, select the people whose actions are real and behave honestly, fear the Lord, and dependable. Do not vote carelessly, because our voice determines the nation’s future.

But, one thing is for sure. Be also leaders who fear the Lord even though you only lead yourself. Be the one who do everything in the right way, hate covetousness, and reliable. Therefore, we can be a light and salt of this nation.

 

Select people who fear the Lord and reliable to rule this nation. Yet the most important thing is, be the one who do that right things; who truly lead in spite of leading yourself only.
