Genesis 41:44

"Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

Bible Reading for a Year: Psalms 72; Mark 16; Numbers 27-28

If we associate Joseph’s life in his age to the present, we may assume Joseph as a servant and even in lower position than that because he had nothing. However, authority over the whole Potiphar’s home was entrusted into him. Let us imagine if there’s a servant in our home whose authority the same as ours. What would it be?

Later, he was maligned and eventually put into jail. We can imagine in the present, what if a prisoner whom was given authority by the head of prison. What would it be?

However, there is a particular thing that makes him “get promotion”, that is his integrity towards God. Because, since the beginning, he had principles taught by God, even though he had to experience many trials and get defamation. From a prisoner, he was promoted to an assistant of Pharaoh. No man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt without Joseph’s consent. Isn’t it awesome?

If he had no integrity towards God, it’s impossible for him to come to his brothers when his father asked him to do so, because he knew all of his brothers hated him. He would not run when Potiphar’s wife seduced him. Wasn’t anyone there at the moment? Nobody would know what they did. But Joseph said, “No way!” because God knew everything and he wanted to be ‘clean’ before the Lord. Moreover, Joseph would not be promoted to a confidant in his place if he did not have any integrity.

Integrity is devoted to him, even though he faced many difficulties. Therefore God blessed him and people surround him, as well, because of him. His integrity was not questioned because he trusted God whom he worshipped. And so do we.

Sometimes, we are asked to do something that might not be our part. Sometimes we are given too much burdens. Sometimes, in the ministry, we are asked to do more and more. In every circumstance, we always be forced but in the end, our integrity—especially towards God—will lead our life to abundant blessings.
