Matthew 1:20-21

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Have you ever wondered in your heart how the first Christmas celebrated? What did angels do at that moment? Or, how was the real scenario that’s being prepared by many angels to welcome the birth of The Savior? We would never know what really happened, but one thing we know is that everything has been ready, “God sent forth his Son” (Galatians 4:4).

The preparation that has been held in heaven might be complicated, but the people un the world who were involved in that first Christmas welcomed Him modestly. It is necessary for us to meditate on whether we have lost the real meaning of Christmas in the recent years. Are we too busy and overwhelmed by material things and people’s admiration? Are we about to lose the true meaning of Christmas? I think God never wants us to lessen the joy of Christmas. For He himself “gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17).

So, how about our birthday present for Jesus? What He seeks from us is our surrender, along with every mistakes and failures, problems and fears. And this is the real Christmas.
