Genesis 19:20

Look, this town over here is close enough to escape to, and it’s just a little one. Let me go there. It’s just a little place, isn’t it? Then I’ll survive.”

Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm21[/bible];[bible]iCori12[/bible];[bible]00Job20-21[/bible]

From these passages, we find that Lot has actually known about Sodom and Gomorrah which were full of evil and catastrophe, but he still chose to stay there because he was tempted by its fertility and wealth.

Since Lot lived near Sodom, his lifestyle has changed just like the people who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah, moreover he was married to an unbeliever. Lot did not follow Abraham's lifestyle which kept building an altar to the Lord (it is about to build intimacy with God).

Since then, his life was getting far away from God. In fact, he willingly gave his two daughters to those who did not know God (Genesis 19:8). As a parent, he should keep and protect his children rather than letting them dragged into sins. However Lot eventually really got the consequency of what he did; he was also underestimated by his future sons-in-law when he asked them out of Sodom.

Although Lot’s condition was getting worse, Abraham kept praying for his safety so that he might be avoided before disaster befell Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot has been guided by an angel of God to get out of the city of Sodom.

The message of this story is do not compromise to any sin, no matter whatever it is, even though it looks very tempting and profitable, as it will eventually bring us to any destruction and eternal calamity!
