1 Corinthians 9:15
But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast
Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm30[/bible];[bible]iThes2[/bible];[bible]Isaia13-14[/bible]
The Apostle Paul said that he would rather die than deemed to serve God just because of money. That is why, he worked as a tent maker to provide for his own life when he preached the gospel in Corinthian. For him, everything that undermine his testimony for Christ is worse than death.
For centuries, many people who believe the same as the Apostle Paul and are willing to prove it with martyrdom rather than deny God. Most of us are not faced with the ultimatum "deny Christ or die". However, our lifestyle should reflect that there are some things that we think are worse than death.
By the time of entering last New Year in 2002, I was very impressed when I read Paul's statement in [bible]Phili1:20[/bible]. He said that the main hope is he would not be ashamed in all respects. He did not expect being released from prison. Instead, he hoped that Christ would be glorified in his body, "either my life or my death". I am also impressed with his obvious statement in verse 21, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Since that night, I have repeatedly told the Lord that I would rather die than do something profane the name of God, break my wife’s heart and large family, or disappoint the people who respect me.
There are some things worse than death, one of which is libelous Christ.
We must die to sin, so our testimony is continue to be alive.
