For 16 years John Kovacs to "a tunnel dweller". By a few dwellers, John lived in a railway tunnel under the ground that is not used in New York. When Amtrak bought that tunnel and prepared reopen it, John was forced to seek another shelter over that tunnel.
According to The New York Times, Mr. Kovacs became the first chosen man to a new program designed to "turn the homeless into permanent residents". After spending a third of his life in a railway tunnel, he left his underground life and become an organic farmer in northern New York. He once said, "The air outside feels better. I will not miss my old life. I'm not going back there again."
If we can see ourselves as God sees us, we will realize that every child of God has a similar experience. We have been chosen to leave our dark lives which was so dirty and then to be lifted up and got a new life and work. If we can look our past clearly as what John Kovacs did to his old life, we will realize that there is nothing useful in the darkness, and there's no reason to go back there.
Children of Light will not feel comfortable amid the darkness
