Genesis 22:2
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.
Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm20[/bible];[bible]Matth20[/bible];[bible]iiChr23-24[/bible]
Isaac comes from a vision of God to Abraham. But when Isaac was born and grew into a beloved child of Abraham, why did God ask him to sacrifice his son? Isn’t God as if reclaim a dream of Abraham? A dream that God gave by Himself?
Maybe if I were Abraham, I will have some negative prejudice to the Lord. But how wonderful Abraham is, even he did not understand "why" God asked Isaac back, he kept obedient.
For Abraham, Isaac is a dream which eventually came true. However, Abraham did not make Isaac as the ultimate priority in his life, he still prioritizes God. Whatever the Lord has commanded, Abraham still believed and obeyed God. In the end, God saw the magnitude of Abraham's faith, and gave his only son back into his arms even blessed him with tremendous promises ([bible]Genes22:16-18[/bible]).
Like Abraham, God gives us a vision and a dream. But God does not want us to make Him as the second priority just because of that vision and dream. Since God made it into a real vision, then it should aim to glorify Him. Therefore God sometimes allows us to learn giving "Isaac" which aims to test our hearts.
Today, what is your "Isaac"? Are we willing to give him back to God when He ask you?
