Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm9[/bible];[bible]Matth9[/bible];[bible]Obadi1[/bible]

Fasting is a form of restraining our lusts to any food or something else in order to achieve some spiritual purposes. In a book entitled Institutes of the Christian Religion, John Calvin wrote, “A truly and sacred fasting has 3 objectives: (1) to weaken and to defeat flesh so it can not go wild, (2) as a preparation of prayer and a sacred meditation, or (3) as a proof of humility when we confess our sins before God.”

By fasting, you are more concentrate in the presence of God. God also see that how serious of you while facing any struggles by fasting. In [bible]iiChr20[/bible] told about how the people of Israel were attacked by their enemies. When the king of Jehoshaphat knew this news, he got scared and decided to seek God. He proclaimed to all people in Judah to fast. Then they came together to ask God’s favors. They came from every town in Judah to seek God ([bible]iiChr20:3,4[/bible]).

The people of Israel were being in a massive danger! And they decided to seek God by praying and fasting. And the Bible noted that God gives a victory to any nation which seek His face and rely on Him. Looking for God, praying, fasting, and repenting is a unity that can not be separated to acquire a victory.

By fasting, we devote ourselves to seek God’s face eagerly
