Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

The ascension of Jesus Christ passed the legacy on the disciples who watched Him ascending into heaven. Before He was ascended, Jesus commanded them to be His witnesses to the end of the earth. Therefore, Jesus gave them power and the Holy Spirit, as well.
Until today, the command is still valid for those who believe in Him. Being a witness and telling the truth is compulsory and it is a mandate given by Jesus. He gave us power to guide the believers to live in righteousness. Moreover, the Holy Spirit shows us direction so that we believers are able to do the right things according to Jesus’ standard.
So it is with a relay race, a track and field event where the baton is passed from one man to another. The Lord Jesus has previously run and brought the ‘baton’ by coming to this world and share the good news.
After his ascension, Jesus wanted His people to pass the baton, that is by keep sharing the good news. The question is, are we ready yet to live in the righteousness and receive the legacy of “the baton”?
The power and Holy Spirit are evidences that Jesus is with His people in telling the good news.
