What makes believers commit the same sins and iniquities over and over again? A famous Christian leader, Billy Graham, said that during his ministry he found the reason why a man cannot stop committing his sins or iniquities. It is because when he decided to stop committing sins, he solely pitied himself rather than completely repented.
The true repentance, according to Billy Graham, is turning away from sins. It is a decision with self-awareness and sincerity to leave the sins behind and turn to God, and then commit to follow His way.
Repentance is one of our responses to Christ. However, it is important because without repentance, we cannot declare Christ as our God. The Bible said, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” ([bible]iicor7:10[/bible])
So today, let each of us examine ourselves, whether we pity ourselves or repent after committing sins. If you always pity yourself, try to take the right response; make decision to repent.
To live in Christ is not easy, but as long as you let the Holy Spirit be with you every day, you can reject the devil’s temptation and the flesh lust that make you turn from God to sin.
If you do not want to keep committing sins, then repent instead of pity yourself.
