Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm105[/bible]; [bible]0luke17[/bible]; [bible]joshu21-22[/bible]

Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth. Salt is very useful in life to create thirst, give the flavor, and avoid decay. But Jesus also warned us, “If the salt loses its flavor” that means the salt loses its function and uniqueness, then the salt is not useful anymore.

And so it is with us as believers. Jesus wants us to have an impact wherever we are. We, as well as the salt, should make thirst in people surround us so they seek God, understand God’s mercy, and avoid moral decay. God does not want us to lose our function and then turn to tasteless salt that would be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Now let us observe how the salt works. The salt is sown into meal, not poured. It means the serving is quite little but has an impact. Don’t think that as ordinary people—not the famous ones—we cannot have an impact. No matter how small we are, God has created us to influence others through our talents and life. Do not ever think that you are inferior, trust God that has trusted you.

Secondly, salt melts in the meal. It is formless, yet we can taste it. So it is with us; we don’t need to be famous but we have to be an influence for people surround us. Moreover, we should glorify Jesus’s name, not ours.

Lastly, salt has no impact when it stays in the container. It needs to be mixed with food. So it is with us, we should not be exclusive among God’s children only because God sent out us to tell the world of His love.

We are the salt of the earth. We are determined to have an impact and give flavor in the tasteless world.
