Sometimes the delayed promise makes us upset, disappointed, or bored. Being delayed means we need to wait longer, especially when the promise is delayed for so long, even for years.

But that’s what Abraham went through. One day, God promised him, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” (Genesis 15:5) But Sarah has not been pregnant yet until years since the promise. And when both of them were too old, there’s no sign of pregnancy.

As a human, we must be so disappointed, frustrated, and give up with the situation. We are no longer trusting God and begin to adopt the logic, and then we ask human or other gods for help even though Jeremiah 17:5 clearly explained, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord.”

However, for 39 years Sarah and Abraham have been waiting for God fulfilling His promise. At last, in Genesis 21:1-2, God kept the promise in His time. Sarah was pregnant and bore Isaac. When Isaac was born, Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90. It’s never too late for God! He has made everything beautiful in its time. Thus, do not lose hope while waiting for God’s promise and His blessing time.
