Psalms 42:8
"By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life."
Bible Reading for a Year: Psalms 70; Mark 14; Numbers 23-24
Have you ever been awake in the midnight and a song of praise came up in your mind? If so, then it shows that you sleep while your heart keeps thinking of God. Rather that waking up with popular songs in our mind, it is better to have song of praises or scriptures in our mind. Songs in the midnight is a gift from the Lord.
When Paul and Silas were put into the jail in Philippi, Acts 16 tells us that “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.”
It is said that the prisoners were “listening”, in the native language it is said that they listen carefully and enjoy. It is like when we listen to our favorite song in the radio. “Oh, I love this song! This is a good song!” That is how the prisoners in the prison were listening to Paul and Silas singing at that moment.
Perhaps, no prisoner that ever sang in the prison at that moment. That Paul and Silas were singing for the Lord was a powerful testimony. That was a way for evangelism in the prison. It proves that we can testify the love of Christ in many ways.
If today you feel sick, alone, and hopeless, and like no one cares about you, start praising God. Let God’s love and joy flow into your heart, and when you walk by faith and worship the Lord, trust that you can experience miracles like Paul and Silas did.
May the song of praises unto the Lord never leave our mouth and our heart is fixed on Him.
