Why did God ask David to go to the threshing floor of Ornan? This occured after David have sinned. God asked David to erect an altar and offer burnt offerings so God would forgive him. The altar was situated in the threshing floor of Ornan, the chosen place which God has determined.

Threshing floor is where the reapers beat the grain to separate it from the straw and husks. First, the sheaves are spread so the wind could blow away the chaff, leaving only the good grain on the floor to be collected and later brought to the barn.

The threshing floor depicts David’s purification. Just like the beaten and spread grains, David, after having sinned against the Lord, had to go through the process to separate him from the straw of sins. This process purified David from his iniquities.

To have purified life and to live according to His will, each of us need to enter God’s threshing floor. The threshing floor might be some temptations and tests from God to beat and shake our life. As we understand how God works to purify us, we will be grateful and praise God even though He brings us to the threshing floor. Though threshing floor is unpleasant, it is good for purifying our faith and makes us more beautiful to Him. –SYS

If God brings us to the threshing floor, remember that He is purifying our faith and build our characters.
