The Disciples of Christ has been waiting for the Holy Spirit since the
ascension of Lord Jesus. Therefore, He didn’t leave them alone, but He promised
that the Holy Spirit will be with them (read John 14:16-17). The almighty
Spirit will guide and lead them in their lives to do God’s work (read John
14:26). Why did the Holy Spirit come?
First, the Holy Spirit is the Helper given by Father God and Lord Jesus unto the disciples to be with them always. The Spirit will testify of Christ (read John 15:26). Therefore they need divine power that guides them (read Luke 24:49). Besides, in this mission of spreading the gospel their lives are at stake. It shows how important the mission is.
Second, the Holy Spirit is to convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (read John 16:8-11). The world rejects them. It means that the world will fight against the Disciples of Christ and His teaching.
Third, the Holy Spirit is to guide use into all truth. He is the Spirit of truth (John 16:13). The truth is related to the Lord Jesus himself. The Holy Spirit will guide the believers into Christ himself. Only Christ and His Words that are able to set people free from sin. Thus, the important decision is whether you will follow Jesus or not.
As the believers, we need to be aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our life so we can be His disciples.
The Holy Spirit enables every
believer to renew himself to be a person according to God’s will.
