Psalm 42:6
Why are you
cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I
shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.

The most
difficult thing to do is praising God in the midst of our trouble. Our soul is
disquieted and depressed, our lips go numb, and tears overflow. Our prayer is
wrapped in a yelling for God. We yell at God in the trouble, yet our souls are
imprisoned and cannot bring worship unto God.
And so it is
with the psalmist. The psalmist learned that there was another dimension of
praying—a dimension of praising God. Many times we miss it because we come to
God’s presence bringing so many
words to pour out our heart.
We need to
understand that the most essential thing is to lead our heart and mind and let
them bring praise to the Lord in our prayer. We need to learn to praise Him in
the crying of our soul, for it is the key to receive God’s miracles. Praising
God can awake the weary soul and turn our attention from big troubles to God’s
might in our life.
When Paul
and Silas were in prison, they were praying and singing hymns to God, and His
miracles happened. Their chains were loosed because God’s power set them free ([bible]0acts16:25-26[/bible]).
When praises are lifted, God’s power come down to our life and all troubles go
away, and we can deal with every problem with our eyes and faith set on Him.
Do not let
trouble imprison our souls that we cannot apply this truth. Set your mind and
heart free so you can pray and praise the Lord. This will bring our prayer to
the higher dimension; we pray more than just asking. Because God’s highest hope
is to let His people know and apply the truth, for praises are sacrifices that please God. So, let praises to
the Lord become our gate of prayer to take pleasure in God’s presence.
Nothing would get beyond one’s joy
but the free soul to praise the Lord.
