So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

Is it true that God’s help comes late? We might think that God’s help comes late or behind schedule because we measure it according to our own agenda, plan, and timing. Meanwhile, God works according to His own time. Perhaps there will be no problem if His time is our time as well.
Perhaps that was what a family in Bethany thought of. One day, Mary and Marta were so desperate because Lazarus, their brother, was sick. Then they told Jesus about their brother’s sickness, and they hoped that Jesus would come immediately to Bethany and heal their brother.
However, as a matter of fact, Jesus’ response was unanticipated. “When He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.” Later, according to His time, Jesus came to their house, but what has already happened? “When Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days” (John 11:17)
For us, humans, the Lord Jesus’ arrival to Lazarus’ house was already late, but actually there was His awesome plan beyond that.
