When Jesus’ disciples asked Him who the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is, in Matthew 18:3-4 Jesus gave them a surprising answer. Why did He give an example of little children instead of any others? Because there are some little children’s behaviors we need to follow, such as: 1. they trust their father, 2. they are easy to form and teach (obey).
A child will never worry about anything because he knows his father has provided everything he needs. He also never feels afraid because he is sure that his father always keeps him safe and protects him; he wholly trusts in his father in any circumstances.
Every believer should have this kind of faith. However, we have become so accustomed to worry when facing affliction. We forget His promise: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Moreover, a child always obeys his father and is willing to learn without debating. The word of God is not to be debated, as well—yet we need to obey it. Have faith of a child and do not despise the discipline of the Lord!
