Romans 12:1

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Bible Reading for A Year: Psalms 147; Revelation 3; Ezra5-6

In today's competitive culture, we are taught to never give up and defenseless - therefore we do not often hear about the surrender. If winning is about everything, then surrender is unthinkable. We prefer to talk about victory, success, the ability to overcome, and to conquest rather than succumbing, being submissive, obedient, and surrender. However, surrender to God is the essence of worship.

The surrender is a natural response to love and the incredible mercy of God. We give ourselves to Him, not because of fear or obligation, but in love, because "God first loved us."

There are three barriers that impede our totally surrender to God: fear, pride and confusion. These things happened just because we do not realize how deeply God loves us, so we want to control our own lives. In the end we do not trust God completely.

Can we trust God? Trust is an important element in surrender. We cannot surrender to God unless we trust Him. However we cannot trust Him until we get to know Him more and more. Fear keeps us from the surrender, but love casts out fear. The more we realize how great is God’s love, then we are easier to surrender.

We cannot surrender to God, unless we know God and trust Him with all of our hearts
