1 Kings 18:36-37
And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”

When Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal, something that contrasts occured. The prophets of Baal performed various rituals, dancing, shouting, and even injured themselves wishing the idols which they worshipped hearing their plea. In contrast, only Elijah who prayed a simple prayer whose full of faith. No dancing, singing or long words, just a sincere request to God proving the Israelites that He is the living God.
God answered Elijah's prayer simply, fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, even wet soil and depleted water in the trench that was licked by the fire of God. Not only that, the hearts of Israel then turned back to God, a conversion to occur. Isn't it amazing?
Sometimes we make prayer as the last way when all that we know have already been tried. Likewise a new tool, we try to use them, and when it can not work, then we read its manual user . But Elijah made a prayer as the first and the foremost thing in his life. That is the evidence of his faith and trust to God. He knew that he was serving God that never fails, it's because he prayed in faith.
Have we already become like Elijah, who made the prayer as the first and the foremost thing in this life? We do not need to go to the theological school in order to pray, or must have a rich and beautiful vocabulary. Convey your prayer and wishes with your own language, no matter how simple it is, God will understand you.
Pray to God like a little child who expressed his desire to his father, He would understand and hear your voice.
