Haggai 2:7-9

nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this
temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold
is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be
greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will
give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”

Lebanon is a hot and dry city in the area of Phoenicia. It is formerly known
by the name of Zarephath. In this city there was a young widow who was running
while collecting dry twigs forest trees. At that time, the city was hit by
droughts.
Zarephath’s people had
god named "Phoenicia", but even if they had performed the ritual, the
rain has not come down. It turns out that God has heard the prayer of Elijah,
asking that it did not rain for 3 years and 6 months. The widow of Zarephath did
not know how long she can survive, because she did not have enough food until
the drought would be over.
When she turned on her
last fireplace, the prophet Elijah came to him and said:
“Please bring me a
little water in a cup, that I may drink.” ( I Kings 17:10). At that time, the
widow did not know who the man who spoke to him was, but which she knew was a
man who was starving. Mercily, the widow gave him food she had.
Then Elijah told the
widow that “The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run
dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.” (I Kings 17:14)
What really motivated
the widow of Zarephath to give food to Elijah? The widow thought that the whether
there was food or not at all, of course, she and her son would die anyway.
Thus, the widow gave her food to the prophet Elijah. However, God saw the
sincerity of the widow of Zarephath who has blessed the Prophet Elijah.
Then what miracle did
the widow of Zarephath experience? God healed her son who was already going to
die. The widow of Zarephath actually recognized that Elijah was truly a prophet
of God, and what is said by the "God" really happened.
The story of the
widow of Zarephath is an encouragement for everyone to bless others. Perhaps
you believe that we are"Be Blessed to be a Blessing". However, it
turns out that you can bless others first before being blessed by God. To bless
others you don’t have to live in abundance, but from you can bless others from
your shortage as well. Jesus can do a great thing. Believe that when you bless
others, God will intervene to bless you.
By being a blessing for others, you are telling them how good God is in your life.
