Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm19[/bible]; [bible]matth19[/bible]; [bible]genes37-38[/bible]

One day, General Doan Lim went to Richmond by train. He was immediately seated. When the train stopped at a small station, he saw an old woman trying to get into the train.  The old woman started to walk from the front to the back, but nobody gave her seat. Seeing this, General Doan stood up and let the woman sitting on his seat. As he stood up, many passengers offered their seats to him. He was smiling and said, “No, ladies and gentlemen. If the woman cannot have any seat, then I cannot either.”

The general’s action reminds us to sincerity and humility in helping other people, no matter who they are. As children of God, we should be different from the world. Those who are upright in their hearts will not join anyone in doing good deeds. It means that if you are sincere, you don’t need to look around you while you are doing good. You have to be brave even though great people are around you. You have to be different, because God wants to distinguish you. He distinguishes those who worship Him with those who do not worship Him.

In this life, you will confront many decisions. The important thing is, good deed does good but it is better to have right motivation in doing good deeds. Your good deeds will bring peace and valuable when you have the sincerity to do so. Otherwise, you are arrogant and ambitious when you motivation is merely to be famous or well regarded by many people.

I John 4:20 says, “If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?”
