1 Thessalonians 5:18
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you

In her incredible book "The Hiding Place", Corrie ten Boom shared the importance of gratitude. Corrie and her sister Betsie were detained in concentration camps known as Ravensbrück , a place where they attacked by disease and fleas. Fleas are everywhere - in their hair and even their bodies. One day Betsie told Corrie that they should be grateful for the fleas.
Corrie thought Betsie had gone too far in interpreting the Word of God. She could not imagine how they thanked God for the fleas that attack them. But Betsie insisted to remind her sister that the Bible said, "In everything give thanks." However, Corrie did not want to give thanks to God for the fleas.
In that condition, Corrie and Betsie try to reach out to other women in their barracks with the Gospel message, and they hold a Bible study. They then realized the guards did not want them come to their barracks just because of the fleas, so that the women were able to study the Bible. As a result, they have the freedom to serve a number of women. So God can use the fleas for the good thing.
The Bible does not say, "In some ways, thanks," then we can say that we are only grateful when there is no problem. But the Bible says, “In everything give thanks." It means in all circumstances, we can see that God is still sovereign whatever our circumstances .
Give thanks in all circumstances is not an easy thing to do, but if we want it that we can do. There are miracles in thanksgiving.
