Philippians 3:7

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.

Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm24[/bible]; [bible]matth24[/bible]; [bible]genes47-48[/bible]

Paul said that what he used to think as gain before he knew Christ, is a loss when he lives for God. But today there are many believers who stay focus on false “gains” that should be losses to us because they switch our attention from Christ.

What are the false gains? They are power, popularity, wealth, honor from people, etc that we pursue for the sake of ‘success’. Many people spend their resources to achieve such things, and they even look for God in order to get the false gains. We are tied and we lose the most precious thing, that is the knowledge of Christ.

We are called to know God and please Him rather than please ourselves or make us famous. We are called to be a servant and to serve God and others. Do not let the pursuit of false things make us regret in the future.

In the beginning of new year, we should declare what Paul has said, “I forget all that lies behind me and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead I go straight for the goal, my reward the honor of my high calling by God in Christ Jesus.” (Phi 3:13-14)

God wants us to live for Him and His glory, but many times we are hindered from our future and live for our own glory.
