Romans 12:9-10
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor
Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm76[/bible];[bible]Hebre10[/bible];[bible]Jerem1-2[/bible]
In a very materialistic world nowadays, love is always associated with a material gift or money. So it is familiar to give a gift in some special days such as birthday or any certain moment even we may find in some cases, for example, guests are not suggested to give any present unless money (even its provision is already written in the invitation).
However in Romans 12:9-10 above said that love is not only talking about material but also doing something good. Serving our brothers or doing any good things can be a priceless and great gift. What does ‘a love gift’ look like? Here they are:
- A gift of time. One of the biggest gifts that you can give to someone is time. Give your time to listening to his story, complaints, dreams or life experiences. Give your ears, heart, and genuine love for him.
- A gift of praise. Praise can motivate and help someone to achieve his life into maximal. Give it to the people you know every day generously.
- A gift of love. Many people are thirsty of love, so show the love to your family, friends, colleagues, or even strangers. You can reveal it by giving them (your spouse) a hug, a warm handshake to your colleagues, or a smile to someone that you don’t know exactly.
- A gift of prayer. This is a very pure and expensive gift since only God and you know about this. Even though someone you are praying for does not know about this, but it can give his life the impact. Even, you can receive the blessing from every prayer that you pray for other people.
All gifts are wonderful, aren’t they? Yes, those gifts are not material, but they are still priceless and very precious. We have a gift that everyone needs and wants; let us give it to the beloved people generously.
A wonderful and priceless gift is not always about expensive thing or can be measured by money but it comes from a genuine heart.
