Psalms 116:17-19

I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm71[/bible];[bible]Hebre5[/bible];[bible]iichr33:34[/bible]

An oath is a solemn promise that we have committed before God. In the Bible, every person who swore bound to its oath until he accomplished it. But it also stated that the oath is a voluntary act, but once made, the person has a duty to obey the oath because it was made in the presence of God. We might be able to forget the oath, but not with God.

In Psalm 116 above, the psalmist gives thanks to God by fulfilling His promise or
oath in front of people. For Christians, it is uncommon swear or oath because the risk is considered to be very large. But that does not mean should not, but it should be thought out carefully first before making an appointment with the Lord.

When we make an appointment before God, swear or
oath, we should not be late in paying the oath. Keep the promise we have made, that’s the law. When we fail to pay our oaths, then we have to pay the risk. Do not keep our oaths is a sin, just as we are betraying the trust of God.

Sometimes we swear or pledge before God without we realize it or even take it lightly, but it does not happen with God, for He is the God's covenant.
