Esther 4:16

Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Shushan, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.

Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm65[/bible];[bible]0Mark15[/bible];[bible]Hosea11-12[/bible]

Despite being in the middle of a very difficult struggle, we must fight to get out to do some right strategies-as what Esther did for her nation. Esther does not let herself and her nation shackled by powerlessness.

At the crucial moment, Esther unraveled with prayer and fasting. She pleaded with the Jews who lived in Shushan taking part and supporting her in prayer-fasting for three days. Fasting, itself is not just about eating and drinking, but the point is about asking a help of God, by humbling ourselves before Him. Ester fasted and prayed as a recognition that God is only the one source of help for people who will be perishing. Ester did this without feeling anxious, even she boldly said: "If I perish, I perish".

Fasting of Esther describes a great act that starts with a small step, namely prayer-fasting. Like a simple key, but when it is used in the hands of God, then a great thing could happen. Esther raised her petition to God so that He would pour out His compassion and mercy for the people who will perish.

Since every child of God is not spared from problems and challenges, then we are invited to ask God's help in prayer-fasting. By doing so, we are begging God to reveal His mercy and love to help us.

Fasting is a sign of willingness of ourselves to hope in God.
