1Corinthians 11:1
Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ
Bible Reading for A Year:[bible]Psalm55[/bible];[bible]0Acts27[/bible];[bible]Levit20-21[/bible]
A sticker attached at the glass back of the car written, “Don’t follow me, follow Jesus!” If it is translated into Indonesian, it means, “Jangan ikuti saya, ikutilah Yesus!” This sticker unveils to remind the driver not to follow the car ahead. However, connotatively, it has a deep meaning; it is danger to follow the imperfect human excessively.
Unfortunately, this statement has been used in wrong situation by Christian leaders when they have bad paradox figure. They think that people should not follow ordinary man whose imperfect condition just as like them, otherwise they should follow Jesus.
It is contrary to Paul as a Corinthian church leader ([bible]1Corin4:14-15[/bible]). Paul realized that he had to be responsible of giving a good example to his people. That’s why he worked hard protecting himself ([bible]1Corin4:11-13[/bible]) and encouraging his people to follow his life while reminding them that the main paradox figure is only Lord Jesus ([bible]1Corin4:16-17[bible])
As Christian leader, whatever the capacity is; as cleric, the coordinator of church, the leader of cell, and so forth has to be responsible preserving their lives. For whom that are led must be get influenced by their leaders. Otherwise, as followers, we can not look them as god. They are still human who have weaknesses. Follow the good ones while still regarding Jesus as the main example.
As leader, be a good example; as follower, follow your leader’s virtues.
