2 Corinthians 9:9-10

According as it is written, He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his righteousness remains for ever. And he who gives seed for putting into the field and bread for food, will take care of the growth of your seed, at the same time increasing the fruits of your righteousness;

If you ever visit Israel, then you will see sights that the contrast between the Jordan River and the Dead Sea. A stream of the Jordan River is surrounded by trees and greenery, but not life around the Dead Sea. The reason is that there is no flow of water out of the ocean to die. When water flows into the sea, the water stopped there. Finally salts accumulate and poison the water.

This is a clear picture of the two different financial patterns. Dead Sea can be compared with secular financial system, which is based on accumulate and preserve wealth. The goal is to get more so you can have more, but this approach produces selfishness and stagnation. If Christians were to follow suit, so he was on the wrong path. One thing that many people fail to understand is that hoarding make their lives fruitful and spiritually not hinder the good work that God wants them to do.

The financial plan of God is like the Jordan River that flows continuously. As his media channels, what we get we have to pass on to others. If this is done then the result is a fruitful life and focus on building the kingdom of God. Maybe you've realized that God promises to provide "bread for food" to those who give, but did you know he also will provide "seed for sowing" (verse 10)? What did God provide enough to live on and enough to share?

Are you hindering your spiritual growth by saving what should be sown? If you become a generous giver, God promises to "multiply and increase the fruits of your righteousness" (v. 10). There is a need in the church and the world that God wants to meet with our generosity. Allow the flow of God's blessings flow through us to the people around us.

Ownership of what is entrusted by God is what makes giving a painful thing. Let's realize that all that is in us is the Lord's.
