The last few years, Indonesia is prone to natural disasters. Still fresh in our memory, how the tsunami hit Aceh, the terrible earthquake shook the city of Padang. Facing those disasters, early warning systems finally are developed to natural disasters. Do not quit on early warning systems, community members are trained to perform simulations to hear warnings.
Natural disasters cannot we expect when it came, therefore we are required to be vigilant. Did you know that God demands that we have the same discernment in spiritual things, maybe even more wary of facing natural disasters? Jesus said: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come" (Mat 24: 42). Jesus commands us to keep alert and not to scare us, or make us like the current phenomenon whereby some people who go to certain places to await the apocalypse.
Instead, Jesus asks us to be alert await the arrival of His second coming, so we work harder task He has given us. He said "Blessed servant, who found his master, was doing his job, when his master came" (Mat 24: 46). The promise of His coming should spur us to even harder to carry out the Great Commission, so we can please our Lord.
End of the world or the apocalypse is not the finish line for the believer, but a relay to a new life. Therefore do not face the fear, but let's face it with excitement and joy while actively working for our Lord.
Let's keep our vigilance by the end of the day approaching God, strengthen your faith, and work harder for Christ.
