According to Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” What would Lord and we do? His part is to pour out the power of Holy Spirit and our part is to be Christ’ witnesses.

When the Holy Spirit has come upon us, we would have His power. Here are things we would have when we received the Holy Spirit:

1. The power to speak in tongue (Romans 8:26)

By speaking in tongue, we have a lot of benefits to empower ourselves and to build our spirit praying things which are yet unknown.

2. Great Signs and Miracles Happen (John 11:25)

When the Holy Spirit poured out, the disciples incredibly worked.  Peter and John were able to heal the paralytics. Even their shadows were full of power and these miracles are still happening until now.

3. Able to Bring the Gospel amongst Persecutions (Acts 8:1b,4)

For the boldness of apostles to testify while being in prison, the power of Holy Spirit declared upon them so that they were released from chains and went out of jail. What happened next? Prison was shaken and they were free. On that day a great persecution broke out and scattered throughout all regions while preaching the Gospel. Do you want to be an effective Jesus’ witnesses? Face up the pressures and persecutions!  When we are faithful preaching the Gospel and passing through all barriers, its result will be maximal. The multiplication is ongoing now. Hence, we shall pray for the city where we live as its welfare is for us too. We shall be the impact for our surroundings.

4. Changes of Life in Congregation (Acts 4:34-35)

When the Holy Spirit poured out, the disciples prayed in perseverance. They would teach and all together break the bread joyfully and sincerely. This is what God wants us to do. These are crucial characteristics when the Holy Spirit comes on us.

5. Changing the Ministry Paradigms (Acts 10:9-16)

On that day, the disciples had paradigm that salvation was only aimed for the Jews. However, through the Holy Spirit, their paradigms have been changed. Salvation belongs to all nations. Peter had a vision about foods which are impure or unclean, but God told him to eat them. When he was obedient, Cornelius, not Jews has been won and believed Jesus. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit changed us so that we do things which are in line with His heart. The Holy Spirit enables us to do His work. Hence, be still before the Holy Spirit and wait patiently for Him. Let Him works into your life.
