Who a missionary? Protestant
missionaries also called Zending. Zending derived from the Dutch word meaning
"commissioning". So, missionaries are people who got a special call
to spread Christianity through the news of salvation that is given by God for
the whole world. Usually, each person who has experienced God's ownership of
his life will be encouraged to share God's love to the crowd.
One of the Christian
missionaries is Francis Xavier. He was one of the founders of the Society of
Jesus. Francis was born on April 7, 1506 and died on December 2, 1552. He spent
most of his lifetime on remote lands. What exactly makes Francis wanted to be a
missionary?
When this question arises in
your mind, what is your answer? Didn’t Francis have other goals instead of
answering God’s calling in his life? Each person must have dreams about the
future, one of which is building family and reaching a successful life.
However, only a few who are ready to answer the call of God.
Answering the call of God in
the right season is like eating when we are hungry. Do you know that there are
so many people out there who need the love of Jesus? But you may not recognize
that this is the right season.
Then He said to His disciples, “The
harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord
of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)
May you respond and say “Yes, I
will, Lord” when God talks to and calls you. God know that there will be some
people who reject His calling, because serving Him full time is not easy. There
are so many challenges you will face. However, believe that He is able to do
unseen things.
If
you do not answer His calling, God can use other people to replace your role.
