As long as we follow God, have we already had a spiritual discipline? Or are we just an ordinary Christian or just doing our service as a mere formality activity? One of indications that someone has a spiritual discipline is being fervent in spirit to God. “Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:11)
Discipline is always begun by a burning spirit which gives the best for God. He does not lose his first love to God! Recently many Christian have lost their first love as what happened to the people in Ephesians so that God rebuked them so hard. “But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lamp stand out of its place unless you repent.” (Revelation 2:4-5a)
Having a burning spirit does not only happen when everything is going well and fun, but it must happen in every single our lives. All burdens and sin that bind and hinter us in this spiritual race must be left and take our eyes on God!
