How Does The Parenting Project Inspire Parents to Be Better?

The Parenting Project

We are delighted to welcome the great support from various church synods across Indonesia for the parenting series, The Parenting Project. As of last August, more than 600 churches from 15 synods have actively held these weekly parent discipleship groups.

There are many inspiring stories from the participants that we would like to share with you. Every parent, both fathers and mothers, enthusiastically share their experiences, expressing how impactful each module they have learned together. Our joy grows even more when we hear that participants now have a renewed understanding of the important role of being a parent. With this realization, they are taking concrete steps to change and continue learning to become better parents.

Here are some inspiring testimonies from The Parenting Project:

Liberniati Mendrofa – BNKP Gunungsitoli City, Lasara Bahili Area

“I have always treated my children harshly. Whenever their work did not meet my expectations, I would scold them and hit them.

But after attending the training from Module 6, ‘Boundaries and Discipline,’ I felt that I have failed to be a good parent for my children. I realized that i shouldn't have been harsh and I am learning not to punish my children with physical violence or hurtful words.

Through The Parenting Project, I also learned to spend more time with my children, guiding and directing them properly.”

Fitria Linayaningsih – Indonesian Baptist Church Segrumung, Boja, Central Java

'Praise God, I am very blessed by the second module of The Parenting Project, which is ‘Building Closeness’. When I was young, my father's busy schedule meant that we were rarely together, so I was closer to my mother. Although we were not economically deprived, I often felt neglected and uncared for.

This experience made me determined not to repeat the same mistakes with my child. This module reminded me, as a mother, of the importance of maintaining closeness with my child. In fact, I had to decide to leave my job as a lecturer because I didn't want to lose the moment of my child's growth and development.

Praise God, through The Parenting Project, I am strengthened to continue learning to be a parent who has a HEART and CONNECTION with children.'
