How This Scary Dad Became More Patient and Loveable?

The Parenting Project

Praise God! The Parenting Project is ready to be launched in April 2024.

In collaboration with church synods in Indonesia, The Parenting Project is ready to be adopted as a discipleship tool for parents in thousands of churches. Here is one of the life-changing testimonies from The Parenting Project.

Charlie, 5 years old, saw his father, Jemis, as a scary figure because he often hit him and his two younger siblings. Although Jemis was a hard worker, his job had made him a stranger to his children. The absence of his father also made Charlie ask his mother, 'Mom, why do you always pick me up from school? I want Dad to pick me up too.'

One day, Jemis and his wife, Leni, were invited by the church where Charlie attended Sunday school to participate in The Parenting Project program every Thursday night. This parenting discipleship curriculum opened their minds to the fact that parents should be a mirror for their children. Through the lessons shared, the couple committed to change.

Jemis, once short-tempered, is now more patient. He also tries to build closeness with his children. This change is felt by Charlie, as his father now often picks him up and drops him off at school. And Charlie happily tells his mother, 'Mom, you don't have to give Charlie pocket money, being picked up by Dad is enough.' In Charlie's eyes, his father is different and not like he used to be.
