CBN Partners, because of your support we continue to disciple children and parents through a holistic discipleship ecosystem in Indonesia!
As of January 2024, CBN has served children aged 3-14 in 68 holistic discipleship ecosystems through CBN's Early Childhood and Care Education (ECCE) Super5, Superbook Sunday School, and the School of Life Children's Learning Center. And for parents, we have provided The Parenting Project discipleship and sustainable community empowerment programs specifically for families of underprivileged children, through the provision of capital assistance for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME), farmer groups, health services, and the provision of wells and clean water for surrounding communities. The goal is to create a holistic transformation for both children and their parents, in terms of character, academic, spiritual, and overall well-being.
What Have We Done?
CBN Partners, this month we would like to introduce children's discipleship ecosystem at GJAI Barung Kersap, North Sumatra. Since 2017, CBN has partnered with this church to help children break free from negative influences such as drugs, neglect, and a lack of spiritual support from their families. This enables children to grow positively in a safe and supportive environment.
Pastor of GJAI Barung Kersap, Risma, who has dedicated herself to serving children in this ecosystem, said she was grateful to help children give solution of the many challenges they face in this area, such as broken homes, negative influences and drug use.
'The majority issues that experienced by children in the GJAI Barung Kersap community are broken families and lack of parental love, resulting in many children falling into negative influences, including drug use.'
Through ECCE Super5, Superbook and School of Life Learning Center discipleship programs provided in GJAI Barung kersap, children find a safe and comfortable space. This ecosystem becomes a second home for each child, where they are accompanied, guided and directed to become a better person in character, academics and spirituality.
We are also grateful for the hard work of the church pastors and teachers that has made a big impact on the parents of the children. They are willing to take time to serve the parents, providing a correct parenting understanding that the role of parents is crusial for the physical, emotional, and spiritual development of their children.
'Praise God, the parents we serve have started praying for their children, hugging them, and speaking words of encouragement. So, it looks harmonious. When they come to church together as a family, fathers and children sit together. There's something different happening at home.
To date, the discipleship ecosystem at GJAI Barung Kersap Kabanjahe has discipled more than 10 ECCE Super5 children, 15 Superbook Sunday School children and 40 School of Life Learning Center children. The parents of these children are also continuously served through spiritual and parenting guidance.
Testimony of Discipleship Ecosystem at GJAI Barung Kersap, Kabanjahe:
Yedija is one of the children in Barung Kersap Village who lives in a broken home. After her father left, she only lived with his mother and two siblings. The responsibility of being breadwinner falls on her mother. Her mother's job as a farm laborer often leaves Dija and her siblings neglected. Dija often spends the whole day playing and neglecting his responsibilities to do her homework and school tasks. And when reminded, Dija likes to fight back.

Thankfully, since 2021 the School of Life Learning Center has been established in GJAI Barung Kersap. Dija has become a very active child who participates in this free learning every day after school. Her mother is also grateful because the presence of the School of Life has changed Dija's character a lot. As she used to spend her time playing, now Dija chooses to come to the School of Life and study there. At home, Dija has also shown responsibility by completing her household and school tasks.
GJAI Barung Kersap's discipleship urgently needs support so that more children can be served. This month is a great opportunity for you to share #Angpao with them. Contact us at 0815 9655 960 to provide your support!
