Your support has resulted in a comprehensive impact on children and families through CBN's 79 discipleship ecosystems across Indonesia. In these ecosystems, CBN continues to focus on serving children aged 3-14 years and their families through various discipleship programs, including:
CBN also offers a better life outlook for underprivileged families by providing capital assistance for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promoting farmer groups, ensuring access to clean water, and supporting nutrition and health improvements. The main goal is to bring about a holistic transformation in children's education, character, spirituality and health.
What Have We Done?
Through the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (GPdI) El-Shadai Batubara, North Sumatra, CBN is here to address the needs of every child and their family. The majority of families in this area live very simply, relying on agriculture or daily wages as farm laborers. Economic limitations force children to earn their own pocket money by collecting palm loose fruits. However, this habit leads to undesirable behavior such as stealing, and children no longer even focus on studying but prioritizing earning pocket money.
This condition drew the concern of the church leaders. 'What we face here is children collecting palm loose fruits in other people's fields and selling them to have their own pocket money,' said Pastor. Ilmar Samoiri, senior pastor of GPdI El-Shadai Batubara.
Since the presence of CBN's discipleship ecosystem, the issues faced by children in this area have begun to be resolved. Discipleship through ECCE Super5, Superbook Sunday School and School of Life Children's Learning Center has brought about comprehensive transformation in children. The children served began to have behavioral boundaries, such as stealing and defiance, have become more disciplined. Even children are growing spiritually through the Superbook discipleship classes conducted every week.
Currently, GPdI Batubara has served 10 children of ECCE Super5, 46 children of Superbook Sunday School, and 40 children of School of Life Learning Center. And four underprivileged families served were entrusted with developing capital assistance for corn farming, aiming to improve the lives of children and their families.
Discipleship Impact: Samuel's Story and God's Timely Help for His Family
Child discipleship at GPdI El-Shadai Batubara has transformed the life of Samuel (11 years old), one of the children served in School of Life Learning Center. Although he is smart, Samuel was known for being unfocused in his studies and often disturb friends in class. His mother was frequently troubled as Samuel preferred collecting palm loose fruits instead of studying, displaying defiance and difficult to manage.
Pastor Ilmar, one of the School of Life's teachers, finally approached Samuel by involving him in soccer activities held at the Learning Center. Through this activity, Samuel attitude and character changed; he became calmer and no longer bothering his friends. This transformation is also recognized by his mother, who noticed that her youngest son had started to become obedient and diligent in doing his homework.

Because of their economic condition, we also pay attention to his family. During a period when his family was facing economic difficulties and was constrained by capital to manage their rented farmland, CBN provided support in the form of a loan for corn farming. With this capital, Samuel's father, Mangasih Nadapdap, could tend to his corn field diligence. Even challenges such as caterpillar pests, monkey attacks and high rainfall were successfully overcome through his hard work.
Thankfully, the corn harvest in November 2023 produced 40 sacks of corn ready for sale! The proceeds from selling the corn were not only able to cover his previous capital loan, but also used to repair their damaged kitchen and pay off his children's education fees. He is grateful that God's help arrived just on time!
'Praise God, I am very grateful to God for His help to my family. In a tight situation, God opened the way. Thank you CBN. Jesus bless.'
