How Did This 11-Year-old Boy Escape Gambling?

As of November 2023, Superbook discipleship curriculum has blessed more than 5200 Partner churches in various cities and remote villages across Indonesia. We remain committed to equipping churches in Indonesia to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples through the Superbook curriculum and animated shows, which consists of 68 modules from 5 seasons of teaching materials that we have produced. 

We witness the Superbook Sunday School has transformed thousands of children who love God more, cherish His word, and become missionaries. The impact is certainly inseparable from the hard work and dedication of Superbook Sunday School teachers in discipling children. One of the inspiring testimonies came from a boy named Rafael (11 years old) from North Sulawesi. With joy, we share his story with you: 

Rafael was born as the youngest child, making him a spoiled kid. If his requests were not met, he would threaten to quit school. Rafael's strong will led him into the trap of billiard gambling in his surroundings. His money always ran out at the gambling table, and the threat to quit school was always Rafael's weapon to force his parents to give him additional money. 

Until one day, Rafael watched a Bible story from the Superbook Sunday School animation titled 'The Ten Commandments.' This story touched Rafael's heart and made him realize that, for the sake of gambling, he often disrespected his parents. With deep regret, Rafael confessed his behavior to the Sunday School teacher, and with the encouragement from the teacher, Rafael bravely apologized to his parents. 

Praise God! Thanks to your support for Superbook, Rafael has stopped gambling, and he uses this experience as a reminder to his friends about the negative consequences of behaviors like gambling.
