Thanks to your support, CBN continues to be committed to build holistic disciple making ecosystems. This year, we continue to build 79 discipleship ecosystems in various regions of Indonesia, covering children aged 3-14 years old through programs such as:
CBN is also committed to improving life expectancy by providing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) capital assistance, supporting farmer groups, facilitating access to clean water, and offering nutrition and health support. This holistic approach aims to bring a holistic change in the education, character, spirituality, and health of every child.
What Have We Done?
This December, we are proud to introduce a holistic discipleship ecosystem in Makalelon Village, Minahasa, North Sulawesi. Close cooperation with the GSJA Elshaday Makalelon church network enables CBN to provide better life expectancy for children and their families.
The pastor of Elshaday Makalelon GSJA Church, Pastor Amelia Mongi, explains the reality of children in this village, especially those from busy farming families. Children are often neglected after school, trapped in unfavorable environments. However, thanks to CBN's Super5, Superbook, and Learning Center School of Life programs, children now enthusiastically come to church, learn with SOL tutors, and grow both characteristically and spiritually.
'When parents are busy working, the children come to SOL, and the teachers help them with their schoolwork. The lessons from SOL and Superbook also empower these children; when facing character-building problems, they work on themselves and desire change,' said Pastor Amelia.
The changes experienced by each child have transformed them into a better person in their character, spirituality, and learning abilities. We are grateful that more than 20 ECCE Super5 children, 100 Sunday School children, and 90 Learning Center SOL children, have become part of the discipleship ecosystem, guided by five dedicated teachers. CBN also offers support to farmer groups, creating opportunities for parents of selected children to engage in chili farming businesses.
Vanesa’s Hope That Came True
Vanesa's home (13 years old) is far from comfortable. Economic constraints put heavy pressure on her parents, making it easy for them to vent emotions with harsh treatment towards Vanesa and her brother. Little Vanesa secretly harbored a deep heartache towards her parents, and without realizing it, she used to be rude to her little brother.
However, after joining SOL, Vanesa found a place to share her inner wounds, including her concerns about the growing lump on her chin, while the family's economy did not allow her to get a medical check-up. SOL's 'Self-Awareness' lessons ultimately helped Vanesa reconcile with her parents, offer forgiveness, and pray for change.
The church saw the need to help Vanesa and her family. Consequently, her father, Frantje, a farmer, was selected as one of the four members of the farmer group to receive agricultural capital assistance from CBN. Spiritual and moral assistance from the church not only led to a successful chili harvest but also transformed Frantje's personality. Formerly infrequent in worship, he is now actively involved in ministry.
The economy of Vanesa's family continues to improve due to the distribution of chili harvest profits from the farming group, which has been running for five times. This family can now meet their daily needs, even paying for Vanesa's medical check-up and surgery after two years of leaving the lump untreated.
Vanesa is just one of many children being discipled in GSJA Elshaday Makalelon. Each child in this village has a unique story with hopes they wish to experience. Your generosity plays a crucial role in making their dreams come true!
